A trip to Magna

Y3 Sapphire

What a day we have had! We have explored the pavilions, played on the adventure playground and discovered all about Magnets and their history. The children have been fantastic and have had such a wonderful day. Here are a few snapshots

Harvey: my favourite part was everything, but I loved the ice bannister in the water area.

Abdul: I enjoyed learning that people used Magnets to help navigate boats, and the adventure play area.

Jaydaa: I loved the fire area and the fire tornado.

Aisha: I enjoyed making the metal rod spin using Magnets and electricity.

The Brain!

Nurture

We have continued our learning about the brain this week. We have discussed the different parts of the brain and what they are responsible for. We then made our very own brain using play doh.

We then learnt about neurons in our brain. We know that we have billions of neurons and they send messages from the body to the brain. Our neurons make connections when we learn new things and these connections become stronger the more we practice them.

Neuroscience!

Nurture

Recently, we have been learning about our brain and how it works. We have learnt that when the part of the brain that controls our emotions takes over then it can become difficult for us to make sensible decisions. We discussed ways in which we could help our brains to work effectively again through the use of some mindful activities.

We used this model of a house to get the children to understand the different parts of the brain. When the downstairs brain takes over then we can flip our lid and we then find thinking clearly difficult.
