Paper Making and the Highwayman

Our children have been doing lots of varied learning this week. Many are enjoying the wonderful sunshine with outdoor learning, especially if it’s linked to Environment Week. The children in Reception were looking at the environment and when I visited their class, they had a bowl of paper slop. The picture above shows the finished, recycled paper drying out.

I also had to publish this Y4 writing because it was so worthy of a mention. The marking highlights all the great features and I am always so proud of the quality writing our children produce in our school.

Check out all the class blogs this week to find out what the children have been doing during Environment Week.

SSELP swimming festival

emeraldclassblog

We had a fantastic time at Ponds Forge when we took part in the swimming festival.  We met children from a different school.

Playing in the pool was great fun as we could use floats in the lazy river, have a go on the slides and experience the wave machine.

All the children got a new swimming bag and a voucher for a free swim. Have a look at the website to choose the venue you would like to visit.

Obviously we dont have any photos from in the pool but here are our excited faces on our journey there.

Thanks to SIV for hosting and to all the organisers within SSELP.

Living, Non-Living or Once Living…?

pearlY2princeedward

Our Science topic is all about animals and their habitats so we went to explore the secret garden to see if we could find different objects that we could sort.

Once we had collected our objects, we came back into the classroom to sort the objects into living, non-living and once living objects.

We know that all living things can:

Move

Respire (Breathe)

Sensitivity (Using senses – taste, touch, see, hear and smell)

Grow

Reproduce (Having babies)

Excretion (Go to the toilet)

Nutrition (Eat and drink)

Look at the first letters of each of those words above. What do they spell out?

We also found some interesting plants in the secret garden. Do you know the names of any of these plants? How can you find out the names of these plants?

A short message…

Good luck to our Y6s this week. They are all so hard working and mature. I know they will all do their best.

Y6 Class Blog

Just a short message of support for all of our wonderful Year Six pupils…

Dear Year Six,

Your hard-work, perseverance and effort over the past few weeks, if not months, has been truly admirable. We – the Year Six staff – are confident that you will shine during next week’s SATs exams and will prove to everyone just how special a year group you are.

Take time this weekend to relax, get some good night’s sleep, rest those weary brains and prepare for the week ahead – we know that you will do us proud!

Good luck with your SATs exams, you’ve all worked so hard and you deserve every success – we know that you will do your very best.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year Six Team
