Art in Year 6

Express Yourself

Last week, Year 6 had a very different type of art lesson. The Year 6 adults didn’t tell the children specifically what to do or how to do it – they were just provided with a wide variety of resources and then told to create or make something that represented themselves. The idea behind this is based on the idea of how art can used to express yourself as a person. It was very interesting to watch how the children approached this and watching their creative minds grow.
Over the next few weeks we will be moving onto looking at sculptures and sculpturing techniques.

Year 4s meet a real life author!

Yesterday, our Year 4s went on a trip to meet the author of the book, ‘The House with Chicken Legs’ by Sophie Anderson.
They travelled there by tram.

They completed a reading trail around the city centre, found out clues and learnt facts about Sheffield and saw some of the city’s landmarks.

A biscuit break in the Peace Gardens.
Then, they went to the Pennine theatre to meet Sophie Anderson. She told them lots of interesting facts about how she became a writer. She shared ideas about how to write stories and they even got to ask her some questions.
