On Monday, 36 children and staff had a visit to Hollywood Bowl, followed by a lovely lunch in the cafe. This was to celebrate their outstanding achievement of 100% attendance for the whole year. These super children have not had one day off school this year and we thought they deserved a treat.
They loved every minute of their day out, and smiled from the minute we left school to the minute we arrived back again.
Their behaviour, as usual, was exemplary and more than one member of the public commented on how well mannered they were.
Well done children for your amazing achievement and thank you to the staff and governors who accompanied our children on this trip.
This year our pupils in all year groups have had the chance to work with two wonderful artists from “Artboat”: Soo and Charlie. There is some amazing artwork around school and the latest masterpieces to go up are the Harry Potter sculptures created by the Y5s and the Solar System created by the Y2s. Our school hall looks amazing. We are really going to miss Soo and Charlie, but we know, in a few years, we will invite them back for more stunning art sessions.
Just look at the learning in the outdoor provision. Our Nursery children were learning all sorts! I always enjoy exploring with them.
Fetching and carrying. Pouring and spilling.
“And what are you two doing?”
“We’re kicking and counting.”
” Oh! How does that work?”
“First you kick it. Then you count it.”
“What have you got?”
“I’ve got a four.”
“Is he right?”
“Oh yeah. He’s got a four. There’s four dots. Look.” (He also showed me four fingers for good measure)
“Can I have a go?”
“Yeah, but no one’s got a six yet.”
….I got a 2!
The two boys then went on to keep score of who was winning after each kick-and-count!
The Y2 children recently showed me some wonderful persuasive writing. At first I wasn’t sure, but they absolutely convinced me to let them have a beach holiday!
The quality of their writing in their Topic Book was just as good as the quality of writing in their English Book.
