This week we hosted the Y6 Leavers’ Prom. It was fantastic. Our Y6 students are so mature, grown up and more than ready to move on. We’re going to be so sad to see them leave us. Democratically, they voted for the type of event they wanted and they opted for a formal event. They organised the whole thing, from music choices, food, invites and tickets; to a ballot for the King and Queen of the Prom.
The staff made sure their evening was great and the parents had gone to so much trouble to make sure their children looked the part. Parents and staff were so proud to see the Y6s look so grown up and ready to move on to secondary school. The evening was topped off by a surprise. Many of the children spent the last hour of their night on a “party bus” organised by the parents.
We will miss you!
Our school has been working closely with Early Education and with Di Chilvers (https://www.early-education.org.uk/trainers/trainer/23). Di Chilvers has worked collaboratively with all the schools in our locality called SSELP (Sheffield South East Learning Partnership). We are a strong team with excellent working relationships. We share good practice and are front runners with current research and developments.
Last night our school hosted the Early Education meeting and colleagues from our city and South Yorkshire; West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire visited our school. They came to hear Di and our Early Years’ Teachers talk about “Talk for Maths Mastery” (TFMM), implementing TFMM in our school, supporting TFMM through transition from EYFS to Y1; and looked at our EYFS provision, our floor books and learning stories.
Two of our Early Years’ Team have had their work and research published in the Early Years Educator monthly magazine. Our school is so proud of the work all the teachers and support staff do for our children, but we know, without the amazing early input from the EYFS team, the rest of us would have a much harder job! Thank you and well done!
