Happy New Year everyone! It’s Friday and we have had a great first week back. The children have returned to school with amazing attitudes to learning. They have remembered exactly how we do things here at Prince Edward Primary. They are polite, courteous, friendly, sincere, hard working and responsible. I’ve enjoyed seeing all our pupils and their families each morning when they come to school. Meeting and greeting our families on the school yard is a great start to the day. The children have thrown themselves straight in to their learning and after school clubs: Y6 are looking at alternative fairy tales, Y3s have been excited about their dance; and gaming club, Razzmatazz Drama Club and Handball Club have got off to a great start.
We’ve really enjoyed the end of term celebrations. Our children have particularly enjoyed performing in the nativities. The EYFS children were confident and sang beautifully. This really got us in the Christmas spirit.
When Miss Boyd first told the children in Onyx class that we would be putting on a christmas they were so excited. Some children remembered putting on a performance back when they were in Nursery!
We had to learn lots of new songs, and we had to practice singing every day! We have been trying so hard to remember all of the actions and the words.
Miss Boyd and Miss Deighton told the children that some children would be given speaking parts. We held special auditions in the hall, and those children who wanted to have speaking parts auditioned in front of everyone. Some of the children were very brave and confidently spoke in front of all the children and teachers in both classess!
The children had been rehearsing lots, practising our performance in the hall. Then the day finally arrived! It was time for the christmas performance! The hall…

Here at Prince Edward Primary we love celebrations. At this time of year there is lots to celebrate! All our year groups do something to celebrate. Y5 and Y6 visit the local church and sing to the parishioners. We invite the elderly in to our school and give them a Christmas dinner and carol concert. Younger children show parents and families their plays and performances. Our youngest pupils (just 3 and 4 years old) in Nursery this year made a film to tell the story of the birth of baby Jesus. This is one of my favourite versions of the Christmas Story. Take a look:
What a great time I’ve had at Prince Edward Primary! I’ve made so many new friends and I have taken part in so many different after school activities.
Yummy – I really enjoyed after school Cooking Club with the Key Stage 2 children. We made a delicious fresh pasta salad.
Tired – after school Tag Rugby was brilliant. Meet the team.
I got to sing a song in Razzamataz; shoot and score at Netball club; practice my downward dog at Cosmic Kidz; and build a tower in Construction Club. There was so much to do at Prince Edward.
During the Easter holiday, I had the opportunity to attend Easter Eggstravaganza with all the Year 6 children. I couldn’t believe all the activities we could take part in including: inflatable obstacle course, SUFC coach, Easter Egg Hunt, SPaG & general knowledge quizzes, Spring crafts, multiplication challenges, and many more. If we attended every day or won a quiz, we had some great prizes to choose from – I really wanted the tickets for Jump!
My maths and literacy skills were put to the test when I went to some after school tutor sessions. Parts of it were easy; other bits were very tricky but I persevered.
Thank you Prince Edward, I have had an amazing time visiting your school and meeting all the children. You do so many interesting activities after school.
